There will be plenty of opportunities for bigger roles along the defensive line in 2018 for Wisconsin, and Matt Henningsen will be one of the players in the mix for a spot to show what he can do.
The redshirt freshman will be part of a mix of defensive linemen who will be expected to contribute right away, given the injuries and graduation losses at the position. Henningsen tells Matt Lepay that he spent his freshman year learning how to be a part of a college football program, and wasn't that worried about the future.
Henningsen says that Kayden Lyles, who has changed positions to defensive line from the offensive line, has been a big asset for the position. He also says Olive Sagapolu has been a tremendous help to the younger players off the field in meeting rooms and on the field during practice.
