Wisconsin men's hockey opens up Big Ten play this weekend with a series against Minnesota, and coach Tony Granato joins Brian Posick to talk about it on the Wisconsin Hockey Hour and the Badger Hockey Digest. Plus, Mark Johnson gets his number retired.
Freshman goalie Daniel Lebedeff of Finland made 32 saves, including 17 during 9 penalty kills during Wisconsin's 3-2 overtime loss at North Dakota last Saturday night. Lebedeff has put himself in position to be the number-one goalie and is expected to start Friday night when the Badgers open the B1G season against Minnesota at the Kohl Center.
Senior forward Will Johnson is off to a good start. He has 3 goals and 6 points in 8 games this season and scored the first goal of last Saturday's game at North Dakota, where the Badgers committed 11 penalties and eventually lost in overtime 3-2 despite 32 saves from freshman goalie Daniel Lebedeff.
