Kristin Marie Spearman, a 36-year-old woman from Waco, Texas, has been arrested and charged with third-degree felony stalking after allegedly marrying her ex-boyfriend without his knowledge or consent. The incident came to light when the 42-year-old victim discovered a package on his property containing a marriage certificate and a photo of Spearman holding what appeared to be a marriage license. According to the Beverly Hills Police Department, Spearman persuaded a local reverend to officiate the marriage without the victim's presence. She then filed the certificate with the McLennan County Clerk's Office, making the marriage official.
The couple had initially applied for a marriage license earlier this month but had a falling out, after which the victim decided not to proceed with the marriage. Despite this, Spearman allegedly went ahead with the ceremony. The victim reported the situation to the police after finding the package, which included items from Bath & Body Works and a note from Spearman.
Authorities arrested Spearman at her home near Hewitt, Texas, and she has since been released on bond with an emergency protective order in place. The Beverly Hills Police Chief, Kory Martin, noted the unusual nature of the case, stating, "I don't think in 23 years I've ever heard of anybody who managed somehow to get married to someone who wasn't present for a ceremony." The name of the pastor involved has been withheld to prevent harassment as the case proceeds.
The victim is currently working through legal processes to address the situation.
